Just got this press release in my inbox. Paizo and WizKids have announced a new Pathfinder pre-painted plastic minis line. Since the end of D&D Miniatures, I’ve wondered if anyone was going to step up and do this. Turns out, someone did. No pricing has been announced, but they should be out sometime this fall.  Here’s a link to WizKids confirming.  And an update from Erik Mona on the Paizo forums. Press release follows:

  1. And the Beginner’s Box suddenly becomes a “must-own” for me, even though I’m not a Pathfinder player :)

With this, plus some other cool releases coming down the line from WizKids, they’re really doing a great job of turning the company around. Great work from both companies.

  2. what company was this press release through, I don’t see it on either companies website, and I would think that Paizo would want ot wait til Paizocon next week to release news like this

  3. Awesome news!

I just hope Paizo does it right and forgoes the whole random boosters and instead makes specifically packaged sets.

  4. Oh, well there goes all my money.

  6. Erik Mona clarifies things a bit here:

The minis are a separate product intended to be used with the Pathfinder beginner box. It is also just a single non-random set for now.

  7. Even so, I’m glad that they decided to do even that. Plus, as I’ve seen others note on Twitter, it makes me hopeful that they will decide to do more in the future.

  8. I certainly hope they are the same scale as the WotC minis. That would give me a greater incentive to buy them. If its a separate scale I really do not want to start investing in a completely new set.
