Indie Talks Episode 11 – Extra Life 24 hour gameathon for kids

So it’s been a while, eh? I know I set out to do a bi-monthly podcast, but this time life just really got in my way. It did so in the form of several billion bacteria which just invited themselves right into my lungs. Walking Pneumonia! I didn’t do a lot of walking, mostly I watched Futurama and tried not to pass out.  But I still managed to do something cool.

Extra Life! I played mostly board games for 24 hours straight! Why? To raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital via Extra Life and the Children’s Miracle Network. I was up at 7:30 am on Saturday, October 20th until 3am on Sunday, and then up again at 9am to play more games. Jonathan J.  joined me for a good chunk of it, along with my family and buddy Scott. We live blogged a good chunk of it as well. We also got a chance to play test the newly revised Upgrade Wars! During the whole event Jonathan and I raised just about $1000. Booyah!

In other cool news,  next month is National Game Design Month ( NaGaDeMon) – be sure to check out the group if you’d like to create and play a new game in November! For more info on Alf’s Fantastiqa, check out the BGG page and then go immediately to the Fantastiqa page for a glimpse at this amazing game. Want even more info on Alf’s games and what it’s like to be a board game designer? Indie Talks Episode 5a has what you need.
