Legio is a turn based strategy games mashed up with chess

Paradox Interactive has an interesting title on the horizon.  Legio!  It’s a turn based strategy game (yay!) that features a chess like board and what looks to be combats between units.   At a $9.99 price point for the download this game falls right into impulse buy territory.  With the option for single player or two player the game is also interesting enough to intrigue me.  Look for the game on May 21. Look for a few screen shots and a press release after the jump.

Paradox Interactive today confirmed a release date of May 21, 2010 for Legio, the upcoming turn-based PC strategy game by indie game developer Ice Game Studios. Playable for up two players, the game is a mix between chess and a turn-based war game and takes place in a mythical fantasy world where magicians, warriors and monsters battle for domination. Legio will be available via digital download for $9.99/€9.99.

Both players control an equal army of characters with the goal of eliminating the other player’s army. Learning to play Legio is quite easy, but mastering all the various strategies promises hours of extended gameplay. Legio also includes an intelligent music engine that adjusts the musical theme to reflect the current gameplay.

“After a successful beta, Legio, a true labor of love for us a Game Studios’, is finally being released” said CEO Fredrik Sällström.

In addition to the release date, Paradox unveiled a new Legio website which can be found at: www.legiogame.com
