Last year I was able to catch up with Gabriel, filmsmith and all around cool guy who was developing Tex: Vampire Hunter (or) Make Thick My Blood: A Tragedy in One Act. The film had a bunch of stuff going for it right from the outset. Vampires. Cowboys. Jen Page. Blood and gore. All the good stuff.
In a dark version of the Old West, Tex is a gunslinger who has dedicated his life to eradicating vampires from America. His travels bring him to a brothel used by the undead as a front to lure in their victims. This evil bordello also happens to be run by his ex-lover, a beautiful vampire named Elisabeta. Tex is haunted by his past, but will he be able to discover the dark secret that binds him to his prey, or will his righteous rage blind him?
Since last chatting with Gabriel, Tex has been completed, a new website (linked above) has launched and the film is making it’s way to the silver screen! Tex will be an official selection at the Beloit International Film Festival, screening on Friday, February 19th and Saturday, February 20th. You can grab tickets at the BIFF’s website, or right here as well. Tickets will run you $8.25 each which will get you not only Tex but a number of other short films as well. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out.
