I'm a maker geek, computer modder, personal electric vehicle designer, homesteader, and cyberpunk. Gibson is good, but Stephenson has the vision and Snow Crash/Diamond Age are the clearest versions of the future I have seen yet. Knowledge is doubling every 18 months. As the rate of change increases the technology singularity approaches and our ability to predict the future utterly fails. What unimaginable future awaits us? This is a fascinating time to be alive.

Towers of Power – Spira Defence vs. Retro Defense

They call these two offerings casual games, but as for myself there is nothing casual about them. I am engrossed, entranced, obsessed. Maybe it has something to do with my OCD, maybe it has something to do with my age. I have no idea what all the hooks are, but I can feel that they are planted deeply.

First Look: Flock! Aliens Flock Together

Kirk vs. Khan. Vampires vs. Werewolves. Pirates vs. Ninjas. Some rivalries are for the ages and will never be decided. Certainly demanding a place on any such list is the classic rivalry of Aliens vs. Farmers. Aliens seem to have made our planet a holiday hotspot, but for some reason, they only ever visit the country and farmer Brown always seems to end up getting an alien colonoscopy.

Faster Caster Master Blaster

Caster is a fast paced third person casual arcade shooter from Elecorn. This game is intentionally retro in both sight and sound. The stages are reminiscent of the proto-3D environments of the early 90's and the sounds are straight out of the mid 80's arcades. The character you play could be described as Astro Boy meets Sonic the Hedgehog on acid. Some kind of high technology boy robot. You can launch a variety of energy attacks, can boost jump high into the air, and can run as fast as makes any sense at all. No thinking required. Just move and shoot and try to get the myriad assorted baddies before they get you. Just do it very quickly.

Demon’s Souls – Big in Japan – The EPIC English Review

Demon's Souls is a third person RPG for the PS3 made by From Software in Japan and recently released to the Japanese market. There was a lot of expectation surrounding this game and it landed white hot in the Japanese market selling out in its first day. Does it live up to all the hype? If it is only being released in the Japanese market, why would we care here in the US (or across the pond in Europe for that matter)? Can a Japanese console RPG really be that big of a deal? You have no idea.

Daft TR2N

When I heard that Disney was making a sequel to TRON, I honestly didn't care at all. Don't get me wrong, I loved TRON when it came out in the 80's but the movie was very much a product of the time at which it was made and it is hard for me to imagine a sequel landing in 2011 would have anything approaching the same impact. The original movie was groundbreaking, but CGI visuals are now so commonplace that the ability of CGI alone to impact and impress is somewhat reduced. Even the announcement that Jeff Bridges was definitely reprising his original role (and maybe even Bruce Boxleitner as well) didn't sell me. When was the last time Disney did something groundbreaking anyway? I can't remember. So why am I suddenly excited about yet another Disney sequel. Two words. Daft Punk.

Economy got you raging? MadWorld is the ultimate stress toy.

What do you get when you take No More Heroes and add a measure of Manhunt, a dash of Running Man, sprinkle with dialog from Grand Theft Auto, and wrap it all in the stunning graphics from Sin City? It's called MadWorld and it is definitely a world like no other on the Nintendo Wii.

Watchmen: not your typical movie review (spoiler free zone)

It's the biggest comic movie release of the year and has literally been discussed and anticipated for decades. The author Alan Moore intentionally designed the graphic novel from the mid 80's to be "unfilmable", and director Zach Snyder is attempting the near impossible in trying to bring this work to the screen in a way that fans and the public will embrace. So does the film stand up to the massive expectations of the fans? Is this a glimpse of the future of superhero movie adaptations?
