Kick The Box
August 18th Edition
This week’s intro is going to be short and sweet, cause I’m running late on Monday night due to all the major events at GenCant2014 this year! Oh, ok . . . Maybe it was just because I had procrastinated this week period. Sounded like a good excuse! Here’s this week’s picks!
Kickstarter News: Trekking The National Parks has raised over $31,000 for the their campaign. Just a few hours left to jump on to this one! Clockwork Wars is still going strong with double it’s funding level and two weeks left in their campaign. Hostage Negotiator passed it’s $5,000 funding level by over $42,000! Amazing for a solo game!

A Second Edition of Agents of SMERSH is now on Kickstarter. AoS is a story telling cooperative board game set during the Cold War Era. You and your partners are spies, globetrotting around the world trying to stop Dr. Lobo and his henchman’s dastardly deeds.
What sets AoS apart from other cooperative games is the Book of Encounters. After each person’s turn, the player next to them will flip to a specific page in the book. They will read a short encounter, paragraph or two, of some potentially deadly encounter. Than the player will have to make a skill check in hopes of overcoming this terrible threat. Dice are thrown, skill checks are checked, and the results are in.
This game doesn’t hit the table enough in my opinion. I could play this game nightly and it wouldn’t be enough times. If you are the type of person that enjoys Tales of an Arabian Night and love everything James Bond spy style, this is right up your alley. Also, if you missed the first two times that AoS and it’s expansion, Swagman’s Hope, was on Kickstarter, now is the time to grab it. There is also a pledge level for all the upgraded materials for everyone that did buy the First Edition. The Android App is FREE to everyone who purchased the First Edition.
SHIPPING PRICE IS INCLUDED FOR ALL BUYERS IN THE USA AND PUERTO RICO. EU BUYERS WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY VAT AS GAMES WILL SHIP FROM WITHIN THE EU. CANADIAN BUYERS WILL HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO AVOID CUSTOMS, BUT WE ARE USING A NEW SERVICE AND WE CAN’T GUARANTEE SHIPMENTS WILL BE MADE FROM WITHIN CANADA.

These look amazing! If a wizard needed to roll some dice for a skill check, banquish some foes, or foretell the future of some impending doom, these are what I would imagine he would pull out of his dusty gray leather satchel.
I suggest you should just stop reading at this point and click the picture and go to their Kickstarter page for more pictures of his other dice. A single glimpse at one of the pictures will tell you more than I could say, even if I was to write as many books as Terry Goodkind.
There are several different pledge levels ranging from $10 pledge level that allows you to select any three dice you want to $225 pledge level that will net you three sets of dice. There are also pledge levels beyond that if you want to go hog wild.

The heavy hinges of a child’s eyelids flutter and slowly close, thus opening the door to dreamland. While the child of the night escapes into dreamland, a Nightmare has arisen in the slumbering child’s bedroom, trying to snuff out the safety of the Nightlight. Luckily this same magic has also brought the child’s stuffed animals alive.
1-4 players will become one of the six stuffed animals trying to defend the Nightlight from the evil Nightmare. Every stuffed animal has an unique skill deck and special ability. Players will take turns raiding the toy chest in hopes for weapons and other special abilities to help them keep the Nightmare at bay for three rounds of gameplay.
With it’s unique elegant watercolor artwork, different Nightmare scenarios, six stuffed animals for players to play as, this game looks stellar in any dreamland.
Shipping is included for US backers. Shipping to Canada is $18. Shipping to the UK is $25.

In the most coveted Institution of Magical Arts, the Headmaster is found dead. Sadness, fear, and dread fill the stale air. Before restoring harmony and faith back to the Institution of Magical Arts, a person needs to be named the new Headmaster. The only way to do this is to efficiently use their magic tools to gain the trust of their colleagues.
During each round, six different people and magical tools are placed face up in a row next to six cards with images of dice pips ranging from 1-6. Players will roll their four dice. The pips on the dice represent the corresponding person or magical tool card. Players will secretly assign one of their six power cards to each of the four dice. The power cards have different abilities ranging from casting different amounts of power stones to gaining power stones. Each person and magical tool card needs a certain amount of power stones in order to acquire them. This back and forth of dice rolling, bluffing , and gathering and placing power stones continues until someone reaches 20 Victory Points.
Refer to the shipping diagram at the bottom of the Kickstarter page for your shipping needs.
I hope everyone that participated in both GenCon and GenCant2014 had a great time! To more Games! Keep playin’ to be playin’!
