Every now and again I see something in the literature world that catches my eye. A neat cover, a cool concept, the ability to pull Steven Freaking Spielberg in to direct a movie adaptation. Robopocalypse has all of these. And now, it has a contest that features you as the director to make a video trailer for the book!  Find out the complete details and rules on the Robopocalypse Facebook page and read on for an overview with nifty links!

Robopocalypse is a novel by Daniel H. Wilson and it’s getting some pretty cool sounding advanced praise.

The robots are coming! And they won’t stop until each and every one of us are crushed under their steely treads. We at Doubleday plan to welcome our shiny metal overlords, and to do it right, we’ll need a video trailer as electrifying as they are.

We need your help—and we’re willing to pay handsomely for it. Create and submit a video inspired by Daniel H. Wilson’s new novel ROBOPOCALYPSE, and you could win one of three cash prizes:

Grand Prize: $750
First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $250

Enjoy it now! Money won’t be worth much when they come.

Your video must be either 30 seconds or 60 seconds in duration and in one of these accepted formats: “MOV,” “MP4,” “WMV,” “FLV,” or “AVI”.

Your video must feature the book shot of ROBOPOCALYPSE somewhere within. Download this, an excerpt of the book and other resources here. Submit your video here on or before May 13, 2011.

About Ben

I'm a geek. A nerd, a dweeb, whatever. Yes I owned garb, yes I still own medieval weaponry. And yeah, I could kick your butt in Mechwarrior the CCG. I love video games, role playing games, tactical board games and all forms of speculative fiction. I will never berate someone for wanting to be a Jedi and take everything Gary Gygax ever wrote as gospel. Well, all of this but that last bit.
