One of the best interviews that I had at Origins was with Brent Evens, Art Director for Catalyst Game Labs.

For those of you who don’t know, Catalyst is the publisher of the well-known Shadownrun and Battletech franchises. More recently, Catalyst had some legal troubles, with some parties seeking a bankruptcy filing from Catalyst to obtain monies they felt they were owed. On top of that, both Wildfire LLC (creators of Cthulhutech) and Posthuman Studios (creators of Eclipse Phase) have both departed Catalyst to publisher Sandstorm Productions.

So, with all of that going on, you might expect Brent to be relatively close-mouthed about the goings on at Catalyst. Fortunately, that was far from the case. I don’t think that he said too much or anything, but he was happy to talk to us about Catalyst and everything they have going on, both good and bad. It was great to have someone be so candid about a a large game company.

So, without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff.
