Interview with Warfare Studios
Below is a interview that was conducted with the Lead Designer,
Raphael Delmaschio over at Warfare Studios. Makers of the Dark Souls series.

1 - Tell us a little about yourself:

I'm Raphael Delmaschio, 18 years old, I live in Brazil, a small city
called Governador Valadares, in the state of Minas Gerais.
I was introduced to RPGs by my father, I have always liked the genre
over any others, actually I rarely play anything other than RPGs. When
I'm not working on my games I'm mostly exercising, I'm a very athletic
person, I work out since I was 13 years old, I like jogging and I train
MMA as well. (Mixed Martial Arts).

2 - What games has your studio released so far?

Dark Souls 1 and 2.

3 - What gave you your inspiration to start your own game studio?

Well... when I played RPGs, my imagination always went wide on that
world I was playing... I liked how that felt, the idea of creating
something so powerful to drag a person inside it. When you're playing a
RPG you feel like you're inside the game, like you're part of that
world, at least the good ones offers that experience, that's something I
always wanted to try myself. When I first found out about RPG Maker...
well, that was amazing, it's an easy tool that allows you to create very
good games, you just need imagination, that's when I decided to give it
a try.

4 - Which games inspired your work on Dark Souls?

Every RPG I ever played. Seriously, I've been playing RPGs for a very
long time, and during that time I've been planning a game, so every game
I played inspired me, but I guess what inspired me to create Gauly, was
probably Ryudo from Grandia II, except Gauly doesn't get soft at the end
of the game. haha

5 - What are your favorite games of all time?

Valkyrie Profile, Breath of Fire III, Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden,
man... so many...

6 - If you could go back and change anything in Dark Souls 1 what would
it be and why?

Nothing, I think I managed to give the game the feel I wanted it to
have, obviously if I have had more time to develop it, it would have
turned out to be much more polished, and I didn't had funds to develop
something more unique. Something I accomplished with Dark Souls II.

7 - What are you most proud of accomplishing with the Dark Souls series?

The fans. That's what keeps me moving foward, all the compliments and
support I receive from the fans, that's a feeling that can't be
described...

8 - Do you have any plans to continue the Dark Souls series?

Sure thing! Right now I'm working on a direct sequel to DKSII, having
Kara as the protagonist. Plus, I have many other games planned, I have
up to DKSIV planned. I should mention that this one I'm working on will
be entitled Kara's Quest and direct sequel of DKSI will be entitled DKS:
Redemption.

9 - Do you have any plans for other games perhaps non-rpg ones?

I do have other franchises planned, but they're all meant to be RPG games.

10- Do you have any shoutouts or plugs you would like to make?

Shoutouts go to Amanda at from Amaranth games, which helped me alot, Eric from Blossomsoft and Damimen from Aldorlea games,
they all helped me when I first started and they still do.

Thank you for taking the time to talk with us here at Troll in the Corner.
We look forward hearing about and playing more games from Warfare Studios.
