If you’ve preordered Dragon Age: Origins. Then good news! You will recieve two pieces of DLC on launch day. Why they decided not to go ahead and include them on the disc, when its obvious the content is already finished, I have no idea. But, how about some even better news or maybe for you its bad news. There is a third piece of DLC that will also be available on launch day. For $7. Now, you might be asking yourself. Why is this one piece of DLC not included for free with those of us who preordered. And why is it $7?
First off, the two DLC that will be available to some customers who preordered the game. Are the Stone Golem, which will contain over 60 to 70 hours of new content the developers claim, in newly voiced dialogue. The stone golem will interact with all of your characters making many insightful and humorous remarks. For those who are not eligible to receive this content for free will have to shell out $15. Then we have the Blood armor content. This powerful armor will allow your character to deflect most swords and missile attacks from the very beginning. It will also be wearable in Mass Effect 2.
Now for the third DLC. Called the Warden’s Keep, the DLC will add a dungeon based quest to the game along with six new abilities, a variety of items, and a base where players can trade with merchants. It will feature a supernatural storyline set in an ancient and possibly haunted fortress once used as a redoubt by the Grey Wardens, the ancient order at the center of Origins’ main storyline. This piece of DLC will only be available for $7 as there is no intentions of providing this content to those who preordered.
It seems to me with three DLC’s already finished and Bioware just waiting for Dragon Age’s street date release. There must be quite a few more DLC’s on the way. But I’m more interested in seeing if a real expansion will be made to the game. I also don’t plan on purchasing any of the DLC unless its included with a new expansion or is compiled into one pack for a decent price. I’m in no way fond of the way developers and publishers seem so eager to nickle and dime us gamers with DLC. But, hey if the thought of shelling out $7 for maybe a hour or two of content sounds like a bargain to you. Go ahead its your money.
