Playlogic has just announced a new title which looks like nothing else than a whole lot of fun.  Fairytale Fights allows you to assume the role of a has-been fairy tale characters who’s trying to save Fairyland and somehow ends up in a gore-filled hack ‘n slash adventure.

Hearkening back to the days of the Bros. Grimm, are we?  Well if we are, I like it!  I tend to like anything that offers the ability to slice and dice your way through cute, fluffy bunnies.  That’s stress relief I can get behind.

There aren’t any screen shots yet to tease you with, but there is this screen saver/wallpaper worthy concept art which I find very nice.

In what has to be one of the more interesting press releases I’ve read in a long time, Playlogic has this to say about the treasured tales of our childhood past:

Playlogic’s custom made in-house technology makes Fairytale Fights the first game ever, in which players can truly dynamically slice through 3D models in real-time! Furthermore, Playlogic has also built a volumetric liquid system that gives liquids realistic properties. Blood will splatter across the surrounding trees and leaves and players can even skid through puddles of blood, left by fallen foes.

Do that on your PC, PS3 or Xbox 360.

Go Playlogic!  Here’s the rest of the press release.

Fairytale Fights is a truly twisted hack’n’slash platform adventure where players assume the role of a much-loved fairytale character, whose glory days have long since passed. While embarking on a seemingly innocent journey to save a colorful fantasy world from certain disaster, players traverse a series of colourful and enthralling levels filled to the brim with action-packed combat and fairytale-style storylines. Luckily, many different weapons lay strewn throughout the fairytale kingdom, which players can use to slice and dice their way through swathes of cute fluffy bunnies and imposing enemies.

“Fairytale Fights is the creative brainchild of our talented development team at Playlogic Game Factory and that’s why we wanted it to be the first “next gen” title that Playlogic build in-house from the ground up,” Rogier Smit, executive vice president for Playlogic. “The game combines a truly unique storyline and fantasy environment with simple intuitive controls to offer players a whole new level of bloody slice-and-dice gaming.”

Fairytale Fights features state-of-the art graphics, numerous characters, and dozens of missions as well a variety online and offline co-op capabilities. In addition, Fairytale Fights is built using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3. More game features and details will be released in the coming months.

About Ben

I'm a geek. A nerd, a dweeb, whatever. Yes I owned garb, yes I still own medieval weaponry. And yeah, I could kick your butt in Mechwarrior the CCG. I love video games, role playing games, tactical board games and all forms of speculative fiction. I will never berate someone for wanting to be a Jedi and take everything Gary Gygax ever wrote as gospel. Well, all of this but that last bit.
