Most Romantic Tales: Romeo & Juliet: I Bite My Thumb at Thee

A glooming peace this review with it brings; The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head: Go hence, to have more talk of this sad thing; Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished: For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.

Spotlight on SciFi and Fantasy: Mind Over Ship

Mind Over Ship doesn't tediously repeat the previous book ("...the Blecknick had ruled the spiral galaxy for cruel millennia when Captain Blair Campaina realized she needed their anti-fungal medication..."). The novel starts naturally and insinuates the background events and setting. If sci-fi publishers are going to keep demanding sequels from their writers, then talented authors are going to have to keep resolving issues of what info to provide and how to get it across in ways that do not completely trivialize the novel at hand.

Operation Comix Relief – comic books for front line soldiers

We here at TC love comic books. Lots of folks do and some of those folks happen to be men and women serving our country by putting themselves in harms way through military service. Operation Comix Relief is a home grown effort started by a gentleman by the name of Chris to get comic books to the folks who probably miss them and can use them the most.

The Superheroine Monologues. A Parody of Super Proportions.

Catwoman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Hippolyta, Supergirl, Lois Lane, Storm and Dark Phoenix. All Heroines. All parodied in the Superheroine Monologues! If you're going to be in the Boston area between April 10th through the 26th this looks like a fun show to check out. It's gong on at the Boston Playwright's Theatre, a space that I've been in many times before.

Sims 3 to be DRM free? This from EA, have they seen the light?

EA let slip today that the Sims 3 will not ship with intrusive DRM (read SecuROM). EA sites past backlashes, particularily Spore as the main reason. So far it looks like the Sims 3 will ship with a CD Key activation and . . . well, that's it. If this is true, then I'm willing to give EA a bit of a golf clap and let's see what happens with other forthcoming titles.

The Forever War to be filmed in 3D, murdering a significant chunk of my teen years

One thing that consoles me is that Ridley Scott who did us all a favor by making Blade Runner and then kept us buying new, definitive, actually this is the one versions of the DVD is helming this. But 3D? Hmm. Something about filming a serious work of literature, yes the SciFi genre has them, in 3D just tastes like a kitschy ash tray from a Niagara Falls gift shop.

Faster Caster Master Blaster

Faster Caster Master Blaster

Caster is a fast paced third person casual arcade shooter from Elecorn. This game is intentionally retro in both sight and sound. The stages are reminiscent of the proto-3D environments of the early 90's and the sounds are straight out of the mid 80's arcades. The character you play could be described as Astro Boy meets Sonic the Hedgehog on acid. Some kind of high technology boy robot. You can launch a variety of energy attacks, can boost jump high into the air, and can run as fast as makes any sense at all. No thinking required. Just move and shoot and try to get the myriad assorted baddies before they get you. Just do it very quickly.

Bridge Troll – A new card game we can get excited about

In Bridge Troll, you and your friends are hideous trolls who each guard a troll bridge. Each turn, you throw boulders to bid for travelers, who vary in number depending on the weather for that day. Travelers include fat merchants, pilgrims, poor monks (who make good eating), and if you are lucky, royal personages. As travelers come to your bridge, you use them to collect tolls. But watch out! Knights, bandits, dragons, and vicious Billy Goats Gruff prowl the countryside. You'll have to use some of your boulders to chase them away (which means you’ll have fewer left to use on your bridge!).
